SUBTRACTION
Learning subtraction is not easy for most of the students. To teach subtraction different materials and methods were used. Here are some interesting and fun activities I used to teach subtraction for my students.
Play with ladybird
Materials used to make teaching aids
# Bristol board (Subtraction Equation cards, Small Number cards )
# Provide some subtraction equations and small number cards with answers to children.. And Lady Bird with some Small circles.
# Tell them to select one equation.
# After they select the equation and tell them to place the circles on the ladybird to the first number in the equation.
# After taking the circles tell children to count how many are there left and find the right answer from answer cards.
Eating chips
Materials used to make teaching aids
# Yellow foam board (Chips)
# Red Bristol board (chips box)
# White Bristol Board (Number cards)
# Give each child in the group a pieces of chips (cut it using yellow foam board) and a bucket, and some subtraction equations.
# Tell them to count and put the chips in the bucket to the first number in the equation.
# Tell them to see which number is in the equation after subtraction sign. and tell them to take the chips from the bucket to the correct number.

# After taking the chips tell the children to count how many chips are remaining in the bucket.
# And give them to write the answer using marker.
Let,s do subtraction
Materials used to make teaching aids# hard board ( tree)
# Hard Paper (apples)
# Bristol Board ( number cards)
#Glitter paper (signs)
# Give one by one student to play this activity.
# There are total 10 apples in the tree.
# Number 10 and minus sign is pasted on the tree.
# the students have to select a number from the basket. ( all the numbers are less than 10)
# First tell them to paste the number after subtraction sign.
# And after that tell them to pick the apples from the tree to the correct amount they got and put it on the basket.
# Tell them to count the remaining apples on the tree.
